SKY IS THE LIMIT - The expression of Young India-

“வானமே எல்லை ”
-இளைய இந்தியாவின்
எதிரொளி-

(An initiative by V3)

Young India is now beaming with passion. But the fire of such a passion can light up the nation only when it gets transformed into expression. Note the word “expression”. Underline it. This is because today’s children must develop this sense of expression.V3 has also strongly realized the power of expression and
wants to see students express themselves as well as they can emote.

V3 wants the future citizens of India to bring their skill and creativity to the fore, thereby throwing shyness and stage-fear out of the back-door. Hence, the new initiative “Sky is the Limit” or “வானமே எல்லை” by V3 proceeds by conducting various competitions like elocution, essay writing, drawing etc in schools for inducing more dynamism into the personality of school children.V3 has got rewards to congratulate the winners and encourage the participants. Lets weave a path for students to showcase their imagination, for which, sky is the limit.

Light a Life - Mission Accomplished

Result of Our Efforts

We are as pleased as we are posting this content here. We have summed up our efforts well and the result being two grand events, one held at CPS Corporation school, Tondiarpet(17-6-2010) and the other at Avadi school (28-6-2010) to distribute school fees and stationeries to the chosen children. The head mistress, teachers, sponsors, the chosen children accompanied by their parents were all the integral part of these events. These event conducted by an organization that has been named in “sem mozhiyana thamizh”, was fittingly started of with tamil thaai vaazhthu. We have attached a few photos of
Tondiarpet school and Avadi school.

Headmistress’ Novel Suggestion

It was followed by the Headmistress’ addressing of the gathering .In their speech they highly appreciated the efforts of V3.They also said that such an activity done so methodologically was one of a kind. As a suggestion they requested us to spend time with these children during week ends to teach them the basic operations of a computer and clarify doubts in their school subjects. This suggestion is surely an eye opener which we must implement in the near future.

Our Package to Students - what it means to us

The teachers too were moved by such a gesture from us to educate these deserving students. They asked the students to ensure that they return the favor by studying well. And the response from the students was instantaneous and positive. This gave us and the sponsor’s immense pleasure. Then the children were gifted with the fees and stationeries by their respective sponsors. The stationeries included note books, fee, writing pad and uniforms.Yes, V3 went that extra mile by not just paying their fees but by also providing them what it takes to go to school daily. Because we at V3 feel that education must never be a liability.

Funny incident, a piece of advice and refreshments

There was also a funny incident when one of the sponsors was ready with the stationeries and the fees but the child was missing. The stationeries package that we provided them was so big that the little child got hidden from the sponsor’s view. Then parents, members of V3 and the sponsors shared their view on this initiative. All of them had their own piece of advice for the students. Refreshments were also given to all those who were gathered there. The sponsors were given an appreciation letter and a receipt as an acknowledgement for their noble deed.

An event sans Glitz and Glamour

The sponsors on their part promised to support the children every year till they attain a substantial level of education. The events were concluded by the assembly rising to the national anthem. Though the event was devoid of glitz and glamour, the cause for which the event was conducted, filled the place with an eternal divinity .Yes, one could really feel it. A simple banner saying the name of the organization, the caption and the contact information was enough. The satisfaction said it all. The sponsors could gift those children whom we say are equal to god. But by helping by them out in providing the non perishable fruit of education the sponsors themselves equaled god.

Looking Beyond

V3 on its part feels that this successful one year project is not the ultimate. In fact it is the beginning of what in future would be a revolution in education for the deserving. For that to happen we must share our ideas, spot more deserving students and work ceaselessly for the betterment of this organization. Perhaps what we all have achieved is a drop and what we still have to do is an ocean. Let’s now tighten the grip and join more hands in order to give a helping hand. We shall now congratulate ourselves for the success of “Light a Life” –which is a result of pain endured by many. But rather than getting complacent its time for us to move further and farther.

Lets stop students turning labours...

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Those who were lacking on the economic front have now been brought to the fore front. Yes, the job is over. We have now finished the compilation of profiles for the most deserving students. The work, by the way was enormous to say the least. By just looking at these profiles you can find the amount of hardship and the sheer pain that we had to endure in order to collect and bring them to shape.

         During the process-
         • Getting permission from the school authorities
         • Enquiring the teachers
         • Analyzing the standard of living and economic background of students
         • Sessions with the students and parents in person
         • Creating the profile documents for each child

We could find the amount of grief and poverty that still prevails in the cursed lanes of our nation. But what was heartening was the parents/care-takers interest in their child’s education. In fact, that has been the only driving force in our path of completing this initiative in spite of facing many obstacles.

As a part of V3 and as a responsible citizen of this society, we now have a responsibility on our hand. We must try to sponsor these children or find sponsors for them (around Rs.600 per child). A job well begun is half completed. Our job is now half completed .What we have achieved till now is surely a success. But if we can find sponsors to all these children then it would be the epitome of success. Only then the sweat perspired by us in profiling would turn into pearls as they reach the ground and cool us in this hot summer.

The story of one such aspiring student is attached here.Similarly there are 50 other kids whose educational career looks bleak and they need our help.
